The Delhi government has implemented a ban on the direct sale of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders from godowns to ensure compliance with regulations and prevent supply shortages. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated that the LPG supply is being closely monitored, with residents advised to avoid gas agencies and storage points as booked cylinders are delivered directly to homes. On April 4, 1,31,335 cylinders were delivered, while the average delivery time for domestic LPG stands at 4.24 days. To enhance accessibility, the government has expanded the availability of 5-kg LPG cylinders, which can now be purchased without address verification. A dedicated control room and helplines have been established to address issues of hoarding and black marketing. The Delhi Police has conducted raids at 17 locations, and inspections have taken place at 76 gas agencies and storage sites to ensure compliance with the new regulations. Gupta reassured residents that the LPG supply in Delhi remains stable and urged them to rely on the delivery system.
