Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced a comprehensive 100-day action plan for water conservation at Yadiki village in Tadipatri constituency, Anantapur district. The plan aims to tackle water scarcity by focusing on the conservation, storage, and effective utilization of water resources for agriculture and drinking needs. The initiative targets 5,697 groundwater-stressed villages, with a goal to improve groundwater levels by at least 1.5 meters. Over the past 21 months, groundwater levels have already risen by an average of 1.92 meters due to prior conservation efforts. Naidu emphasized the importance of micro-irrigation, revealing that Andhra Pradesh has invested ₹1,031 crore in this sector, making it a leader in implementation nationwide. The government aims to ensure groundwater availability within six meters before summer and three meters after the monsoon. The Chief Minister called for a collective effort from farmers, irrigation associations, and citizens to make water security a shared responsibility, highlighting the need for scientific planning and integrated water management.
