In Madhubani district, Bihar, security measures have been significantly enhanced at the Balirajgarh excavation site, following reports of attempted vandalism. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has established a dedicated police presence, consisting of one officer, two havildars, and four constables, to monitor the site continuously. This decision comes after claims that terracotta artifacts had been disturbed, although local police chief Yogendra Kumar clarified that there was no theft involved, just tampering attempts. To ensure the safety of important artifacts, the ASI has begun sealing them in specially designed pouches. Furthermore, during a review meeting led by district magistrate Anand Sharma, plans were discussed to construct a boundary wall and install CCTV cameras around the site to bolster security. The ASI received permission to resume excavations at Balirajgarh, known locally as Raja Bali ka Garh, on February 26, with work officially restarting on March 28. This site is of national importance, having been recognized under the Ancient Monuments Preservation Act in 1938.
