Piramal Finance reported a remarkable 390% increase in net profit for Q4 FY26, reaching ₹502 crore, up from ₹102 crore a year earlier. This surge was largely driven by exceptional income of ₹1,590 crore, which included proceeds from the sale of its stake in Shriram Life Insurance for ₹600 crore and $148 million from the sale of Piramal Imaging. Despite this impressive performance, the company's stock fell 1.4% to ₹1,837.90 per share. Operationally, net interest income (NII) also saw a significant rise of 41% year-on-year, totaling ₹1,362 crore, supported by a 28% increase in interest income. However, provisions ballooned to ₹1,787 crore from ₹531 crore a year ago, primarily due to legacy exposures, which negatively impacted core profitability. The company's asset quality remained stable, with gross non-performing assets (GNPA) at 2.3% and net NPAs at 1.6%. Additionally, assets under management (AUM) grew 25% year-on-year to ₹1.01 trillion, driven by strong growth in the retail segment, which accounted for 85% of the overall portfolio.
