In New Delhi, a 39-year-old driver named Devinder was arrested for allegedly exploiting an elderly man suffering from Alzheimer's disease and siphoning off ₹2.57 lakh (approximately $3,100 USD) through unauthorized UPI transactions. The fraudulent activities occurred between April 4 and April 15, 2023, during which Devinder accessed the victim's mobile phone multiple times to transfer money into accounts linked to his associates. The crime came to light after the victim's son reported suspicious transactions via the NCRP helpline. Initially suspected to be the work of a cyber fraudster, the investigation revealed that the perpetrator was a trusted family employee. Devinder, who had been with the family for nearly 15 years, left his job on May 5, 2023, and attempted to evade arrest. He was eventually apprehended on May 8, 2023, after police conducted technical surveillance and gathered local intelligence.
