Trinamool Congress (TMC) Chief Mamata Banerjee expressed outrage over the violent attacks on party MPs Abhishek Banerjee and Kalyan Banerjee, labeling the incidents as 'absurd and authoritarian.' In a video statement, she condemned the police's inadequate response during the attacks, which occurred over the weekend in South 24 Parganas and Hooghly districts of West Bengal. Abhishek Banerjee alleged he was assaulted with bricks and stones while visiting families affected by post-poll violence, sustaining an eye injury. He accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of orchestrating the attack and claimed police failed to ensure his safety. Kalyan Banerjee also reported an assault by BJP workers while he was en route to submit a complaint about violence. Mamata emphasized that such acts of intimidation would only strengthen the TMC, stating that the party would not be weakened by these attempts. Following the incidents, five individuals were arrested and presented in court. Mamata Banerjee met with Kalyan Banerjee to discuss the situation further.
