The anti-encroachment drive in Gurugram, Haryana, India, led by the Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP), has reached its fifth day, focusing on nine colonies, including DLF Phase One and Palam Vihar. Enforcement teams conducted demolitions targeting illegal structures obstructing public spaces, clearing encroachments from around 400 houses across 20 lanes in DLF Phase One alone. Significant actions included the demolition of approximately 50 extended boundary walls, over 130 lawns, and more than 30 guard rooms. In Palam Vihar, the operation was extensive, with over 600 fencing structures and 650 ramps removed. Amit Madholia, the district town planner for enforcement, indicated that Block E in DLF Phase One had the highest level of encroachments, with some structures extending three feet into public land. The DTCP plans to submit a detailed report on the encroachments to its headquarters in Chandigarh and will establish a monitoring committee to deter future violations.
