The Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) has launched an extensive anti-encroachment drive in Gurugram, Haryana, India, targeting private licensed colonies. Over the past four days, eight enforcement teams have addressed violations affecting more than 1,000 houses, focusing on illegal structures such as security huts, grills, and unauthorized parking. On Tuesday alone, the operation covered 800β900 houses in DLF Phase-2, resulting in the removal of over 250 illegal lawns and railings and the demolition of more than 80 guard rooms. The initiative aims to clear road rights of way and enhance public spaces, with officials noting that the removal of encroachments has significantly widened roads. Amit Madholia, the district town planner, emphasized the importance of this campaign for long-term improvements, despite potential short-term inconveniences for residents. The DTCP has urged homeowners to voluntarily remove violations, with many complying in areas like Sushant Lok 1 and DLF Phase-2.
