Menstrual Hygiene Day, observed on May 28, aims to raise awareness about the importance of menstrual hygiene management. This year's theme, 'Together for a #PeriodFriendlyWorld,' focuses on creating safe sanitation infrastructure and eliminating period stigma. On this occasion, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta reaffirmed the government's commitment to improving menstrual health for girls. She announced the installation of 1,000 new toilet blocks across the city to ensure clean restroom facilities in schools. Additionally, the government will establish medical rooms and menstruation corners in all Delhi schools, providing essential supplies such as sanitary napkins and underwear. The installation of sanitary napkin vending machines in school washrooms will be expedited. Gupta stressed that no girl's education should be hindered due to inadequate sanitation facilities, aiming to create a safe and supportive learning environment. Poor menstrual hygiene can lead to serious health issues, including urinary tract infections and skin irritations, highlighting the importance of these initiatives.
