The Jhansi node in the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor (UPDIC) is poised for a significant expansion, driven by increasing investor interest and demand for land. The state government has allocated ₹244 crore for infrastructure upgrades and land acquisition, positioning Jhansi as a key investment hub. Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) is set to establish a major missile production unit, reflecting strong interest from private defence firms and startups. The UPDIC, which includes six nodes—Kanpur, Jhansi, Lucknow, Aligarh, Agra, and Chitrakoot—has attracted over ₹35,500 crore in investment proposals, with 977.54 hectares of land already allocated for defence manufacturing. The Bundelkhand Expressway has improved connectivity to the Jhansi node, making it more attractive for defence supply chain players. The state government is also exploring land acquisition in nearby districts to accommodate the growing industrial demand. This expansion is part of a broader strategy to establish Uttar Pradesh as a prominent defence production hub, fostering an integrated ecosystem for manufacturing, research and development, and exports, while generating large-scale employment opportunities.
