Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has strongly criticized the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) for its handling of the Palamuru Rangareddy lift irrigation scheme. He accused the previous government of corruption, claiming that a significant portion of the ₹27,000 crore spent on the project was misappropriated through commissions on pumps and lifts. Reddy highlighted that the BRS government neglected the project while spending ₹1.81 lakh crore on irrigation overall, with ₹1 lakh crore allocated to the Kaleshwaram project alone. He stated that the Palamuru project has the potential to supply 90 TMC of water and could irrigate 26 lakh acres in Mahabubnagar district if completed. Reddy also pointed out that land acquisition for about 4,000 acres remains pending. He pledged to complete the project within two years and urged the public to support the government in expediting land acquisition. Furthermore, he ridiculed BRS claims of substantial project completion, questioning the logic behind their assertions given the budget constraints. Reddy's visit aimed to accelerate the completion of the Palamuru projects, emphasizing the historical significance of their success.
