Gurugram is preparing to introduce 100 new e-buses to its public transport fleet, expected to arrive next month. The buses will be painted light blue, a color chosen to align with the branding of the Gurugram Metropolitan City Bus Limited (GMCBL). The project contractor, Intact Transport Pvt Ltd, has already deposited a bank guarantee of ₹3.68 crore (approximately $440,000 USD) to secure the project. GMCBL CEO Vishwajeet Chaudhary confirmed that the routes for these new buses have been finalized, and necessary infrastructure has been developed at the Sector 10 and Sector 48 bus depots. The GMCBL will compensate the contractor at a rate of ₹55.47 (around $0.67 USD) per kilometer for operating these buses. This initiative aims to enhance public transport services in Gurugram and expand into new areas, providing improved options for commuters. Currently, the GMCBL operates 150 CNG buses in Gurugram and 50 buses in Faridabad, which are approximately eight years old. The introduction of these e-buses is part of a broader effort to modernize the city's public transport system.
