According to the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), Metro Manila experienced a 39.06% drop in crime rates during the week of May 18 to 24, 2026. The total number of index crimes reported was 78, a significant decrease from 128 incidents in the same week last year. Notably, homicide cases decreased by 83.33%, and rape cases dropped by 68.75%. The NCRPO also highlighted an increase in crime-solving efficiency, which rose to 71.79% compared to 61.72% in the previous year. During this period, the police arrested 89 of the most wanted persons and 174 others. Additionally, law enforcement seized illegal drugs valued at approximately P11 million (around $200,000 USD) and arrested 281 suspects across various drug enforcement operations. The NCRPO's efforts also led to the apprehension of 439 individuals involved in illegal gambling and the confiscation of 47 firearms.
