A tornado warning has been issued for multiple communities in Dane County, Wisconsin, including Madison, Verona, and Fitchburg, as meteorologists track a severe thunderstorm with strong rotation. The National Weather Service (NWS) has urged residents to seek immediate shelter as the storm moves northeast at approximately 25 mph. The warning encompasses densely populated areas near the University of Wisconsin–Madison and other significant landmarks.

In addition to the tornado threat, the storm may produce quarter-sized hail and wind gusts up to 60 mph. Severe thunderstorm warnings are also in effect for surrounding counties, including Green, Iowa, and Lafayette. Meteorologists are monitoring the storm's progression closely, with another severe thunderstorm detected near Mazomanie moving east at 30 mph.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to move to basements or interior rooms, away from windows, and secure outdoor objects. Authorities emphasize that while vehicles may offer limited protection during hail, they are not safe shelters during a tornado.
