The Bihar Police have taken disciplinary action against officers for creating social media content while in uniform. Shabana Azmi, the Station House Officer of the Woman Police Station in Purnea, was suspended due to her involvement in making reels that attracted public attention. This decision is part of a broader initiative by the Bihar Police headquarters (PHQ) to address the misuse of social media among its personnel. A total of 50 officers, including 28 women, have been identified for violating the department's social media guidelines, which prohibit posting personal content while in uniform. The PHQ has directed district police chiefs to enforce strict adherence to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) regarding social media usage. The crackdown comes after complaints about officers prioritizing social media engagement over their official duties, which has raised concerns about departmental discipline. Bihar police chief Vinay Kumar reiterated that the uniform symbolizes discipline and commitment, and any actions that tarnish its image will be treated as violations of department rules.
