CD Projekt has confirmed that a new expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, titled Songs of the Past, is in development and scheduled for release in 2027. Alongside this announcement, the studio revealed updated system requirements for the game, which now necessitate Windows 11 for optimal performance. The changes reflect a decade of advancements in hardware and software, as support for older operating systems like Windows 7 and 8 has ceased. The new minimum requirements include an AMD Ryzen 5 2600 or Intel Core i5-8400 CPU, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 or AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT GPU, 12 GB of RAM, and 70 GB of SSD storage. Additionally, CD Projekt is discontinuing support for DirectX 11, opting for DirectX 12 to better utilize modern hardware capabilities. Players still using older systems can access The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Classic, an earlier version of the game, but this may not support the new expansion.
