In Spokane County, Washington, deputies successfully recovered a stolen metal T-Rex statue valued at $70,000. The statue, weighing approximately 400 pounds, was reported missing on March 8 and had been the subject of an extensive search. Following several tips, including reports of a look-alike statue seen in a black SUV, the Spokane County Sheriff's Office received an anonymous tip on May 22 that led them to the statue's location. Deputies found the T-Rex buried in an area nearly 30 minutes from where it was originally taken. With permission from the landowners, deputies excavated the statue, which required tow trucks for removal due to its size. The statue has since been returned to its owners, who are working on repairing minor damages incurred during its time underground. The investigation into the theft continues, with no arrests or charges made at this time.
