General NS Raja Subramani has officially assumed the role of Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) in India, succeeding General Anil Chauhan, who completed his term. This appointment comes during a pivotal time for the Indian armed forces, which are advancing with theatreisation—a reform aimed at integrating military resources for future warfare. General Subramani emphasized that his primary focus will be on enhancing the transformation of the armed forces, improving tri-services integration, and expediting the development and induction of indigenous weapon systems. He assured the citizens of India that the armed forces remain committed to safeguarding national interests with professionalism and operational decisiveness. General Subramani, a graduate of the National Defence Academy, is the third Army officer to serve as CDS and is expected to fast-track the establishment of joint services commands, a key goal of the theatreisation initiative.
