During his visit to India, Thongsavan Phomvihane, the Deputy Prime Minister of Lao PDR, invited Indian businesses to explore the vast investment opportunities in his country, which is celebrating 70 years of diplomatic relations with India. Speaking at the India-Laos Business Forum in New Delhi, Phomvihane highlighted that Lao PDR is not only seeking investors but also strategic partners to foster economic growth. He noted the country’s political stability and strategic location in Southeast Asia, which makes it an attractive destination for foreign direct investment. The Deputy Prime Minister also pointed out the potential for collaboration in cultural and eco-tourism sectors. Prashant Agrawal, Additional Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs, called the visit historic and emphasized the deep-rooted civilizational ties between India and Lao PDR, stating that these ties have fostered a strong foundation for diplomatic relations. The forum aimed to enhance economic cooperation between the two nations and was attended by key officials and business leaders from both countries.
