Rajasthan Royals (RR) made a notable decision to drop legspinner Ravi Bishnoi in favor of 19-year-old Yash Raj Punja for their match against Punjab Kings (PBKS). Bishnoi, who had a promising start to the season with nine wickets in his first four matches, struggled in his last four outings, taking only two wickets and conceding 115 runs in 11 overs. In contrast, Punja, who had previously played alongside Bishnoi, impressed in his debut by taking 2 wickets for 41 runs. Analysts Piyush Chawla and Abhinav Mukund voiced their concerns about the decision, suggesting that it could negatively affect Bishnoi's confidence. Chawla noted Bishnoi's previous good form, while Mukund emphasized the importance of maintaining a stable core of bowlers for team success. Bishnoi's performance has fluctuated since joining RR, following a challenging stint with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL 2025. Despite his recent struggles, Mukund believes RR may have been too harsh in dropping him this season.
