The Indian Premier League (IPL) is exploring the possibility of hosting matches at the newly constructed cricket stadium in Los Angeles, which will serve as a venue for cricket during the 2028 Summer Olympics. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) CEO Venky Mysore revealed in an interview with BBC Sport that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has engaged in discussions about organizing exhibition matches to promote cricket in the United States. Mysore emphasized the importance of player availability, noting that after the IPL season, players' schedules become busy. The Los Angeles cricket venue will initially accommodate 5,000 spectators, with plans to increase capacity to 15,000 by the time of the Olympics. Mysore expressed optimism about leveraging the Major League Cricket (MLC) franchise, Los Angeles Knight Riders, to enhance cricket's market presence in the U.S. He believes that increased viewership will positively impact media rights and overall growth.
