Toyota Motor Corporation, in collaboration with the Kirloskar Group, has announced plans to establish a new vehicle manufacturing facility in the Bidkin Industrial Area of Maharashtra, India, with operations set to commence in the first half of 2029. This new plant will have an annual production capacity of 100,000 vehicles and is projected to generate approximately 2,800 jobs upon starting production. The facility will focus on manufacturing a new SUV and will encompass essential production operations such as stamping, welding, painting, and assembly. Currently, Toyota Kirloskar Motor operates two plants in Bidadi, Karnataka, with a total installed production capacity of 342,000 units. The first plant, operational since 1999, produces popular models like the Toyota Innova and Fortuner, while the second plant, which began production in 2010, manufactures vehicles including the Toyota Camry Hybrid and Urban Cruiser Hyryder. This expansion aligns with Toyota's strategy to enhance its long-term business operations in India and meet demand from nearby international markets.
