In a recent move, the Bihar government downgraded the security cover for Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leaders Lalu Prasad and Rabri Devi, replacing their Z-plus security with a lower level provided by the Bihar Special Armed Police. In response, both leaders returned all security personnel stationed at their residence on 10 Circular Road in Patna. The government has also instructed Rabri Devi to vacate this residence, which has been associated with the RJD for decades, as it will be allocated to Bihar minister Nand Kishore Ram. Tejashwi Yadav, Lalu's younger son and Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, followed suit by returning his security personnel, although he retains Y-plus security due to his political role. RJD spokesperson Shakti Yadav criticized the state government for what he termed political vendetta against the Yadav family, highlighting a perceived disparity in security provisions favoring BJP leaders. The government has set a 15-day deadline for the Lalu family to vacate their official residence, further escalating tensions between the RJD and the ruling administration.
