People’s Watch, a human rights group from Madurai, has urged Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay to take decisive action against police officers involved in the 2018 Thoothukudi Sterlite firing, which resulted in the deaths of 16 individuals. The organization is advocating for the full compensation of victims' families in accordance with the Justice Aruna Jagadeesan Commission of Inquiry report, which is due by May 22, 2026.
