In a decisive action against medical misconduct, the Uttar Pradesh government sealed Tejas Hospital in Bakshi Ka Talab, Lucknow, after a 12th-grade student accused Dr. Vijay Kumar Giri of sexual assault in the hospital's Operation Theatre. Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, who oversees health affairs, condemned the incident as 'deeply horrifying and condemnable,' emphasizing its damaging impact on the medical profession. He ordered the immediate suspension of Dr. Giri's medical license and initiated steps to revoke his Ayurvedic medical degree. Following the victim's formal complaint, law enforcement arrested the doctor and registered a criminal case against him under relevant legal provisions. Additionally, a preliminary investigation revealed that the hospital was operating illegally without a valid license renewal. Pathak reaffirmed the government's commitment to women's safety, stating that the administration supports the victim and her family during this traumatic time, and vowed to pursue the harshest legal consequences for those compromising women's dignity.
