In a significant move to enhance science education for tribal students, President Droupadi Murmu virtually inaugurated advanced space labs at 75 Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs) across India, including 13 in Odisha. The labs, established by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, are located in various districts such as Koraput, Malkangiri, Kalahandi, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj. They are designed to provide hands-on training in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Each facility is equipped with sophisticated learning tools and models, including the thLVM3 launch vehicle and Earth Observation satellite demonstration models, as well as various static models explaining astronomical concepts. The initiative aims to provide tribal students with practical exposure to emerging fields like space science, astronomy, and robotics, thereby inspiring them to pursue careers in these areas. By facilitating first-hand interaction with advanced technologies, the program seeks to foster critical thinking and innovation among tribal youth.
