In a tragic incident in Santiago, Chile, two-year-old Isidora Constanzo fell to her death from the 11th floor of a building while her father, Jorge José Francisco Constanzo Chávez, slept after a night of heavy drinking. The father had been out partying until early Sunday morning before collecting Isidora for a scheduled visitation. Reports indicate that he consumed alcohol again during lunch with his daughter and partner before both fell asleep, leaving Isidora unsupervised. The child fell from a bedroom window that was left open and lacked the necessary safety measures, which had been agreed upon in a custody arrangement with her mother, Gloria Ortiz. A neighbor heard the impact of the fall around 5:10 PM and emergency services arrived shortly after, but Isidora was pronounced dead at the scene. The father has been charged with homicide by omission due to extreme negligence, as he failed to secure the window despite knowing the risks. Prosecutor Pamela Valdés noted that the risks were avoidable and criticized the father's actions, stating he should have ensured the window was closed. Following a court hearing, he was remanded in preventive prison.
