The Kano State government has officially announced the Eid Al Adha 2026 holiday schedule for all public and private schools. According to a statement from the Kano State Ministry of Education, boarding schools will be closed from May 23 to June 1, 2026. Day schools will observe their break from May 22 to June 1, allowing students and their families to partake in the celebrations of this important Islamic festival. Misbahu Yakasai, the director of public enlightenment, emphasized the importance of parents ensuring their children's timely return after the holiday. The education commissioner, Ali Makoda, conveyed warm wishes for a peaceful Eid Al Adha to students, teachers, and parents. This holiday, also known as Eid Al Kabir, marks the end of the pilgrimage to Mecca and commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God. The festival includes special prayers, communal gatherings, and the sharing of food with family and the needy.
