Yathindra Siddaramaiah, the Karnataka Minister for Urban Development, has publicly criticized the recent hike in domestic LPG prices, labeling the BJP-led government as 'anti-people.' He expressed concern that while international crude oil prices were lower, the government did not share the benefits with the public. Instead, it has now increased prices amid rising crude costs due to the ongoing crisis in West Asia, effectively passing the financial burden onto citizens. Siddaramaiah pointed out that the price of a 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder in New Delhi has now risen to ₹942 from ₹913. In addition to his criticism of the LPG price hike, he also commended the smooth transition of power in Karnataka, following the resignation of former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and the swearing-in of DK Shivakumar on June 3. He noted that this transition was unprecedented and highlighted the absence of internal disputes within the Congress party during this leadership change.
