The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) has launched a public awareness campaign in Thompson, Manitoba, to seek information regarding the unsolved murder of 28-year-old Steven Seela, who was found dead in a trailer park on November 28, 2024. Seela's sister, Kendra Seela, expressed her anguish in a video, stating, βHe didnβt get enough time with his son Evi,β highlighting the emotional toll on the family. The campaign features billboards and posters displaying Seela's photos and poignant quotes from family members, including his mother, Denise Redhead, who said, βThe silence is killing us.β
Days before his body was discovered, a 911 call was made regarding a shooting, but the call dropped before details could be relayed. RCMP Constable Lori-Ann Fisher indicated that the police were able to trace the call to a home in the trailer park on Pipe Road, where they found no one present upon arrival. Investigators believe this call is linked to Seela's murder. They have reconstructed his last known movements, revealing he was picked up from a home on Princeton Drive and later dropped off at City Centre Mall before heading to the trailer park.
The RCMP is also seeking information about two trucks seen in the area during the time of the incident. With over 100 people canvassed recently, the urgency to solve the case remains critical as time passes without significant leads. Kendra Seela hopes this renewed push will provide answers about her brother's tragic death.
