The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has opted to discontinue the use of Coempt Edu Teck’s OnMark platform for the re-evaluation of Class 12 answer scripts due to security concerns. Instead, the re-evaluation process will be conducted entirely through CBSE’s own portal, which is expected to launch next week. This decision follows the evaluation of nearly 10 million answer scripts using Coempt’s platform, which students reported had been implemented hastily, affecting their scores. A senior official from IIT Kanpur indicated that the switch to CBSE’s portal allows for better control over security. Although the board is not completely severing ties with Coempt, it will utilize a modified version of their code on its own infrastructure. CBSE has also lodged a formal complaint with the Delhi Police regarding cyberattacks on its post-result services, prompting an investigation. An expert team from IIT Madras and IIT Kanpur is currently overseeing the technical aspects of this transition and assessing vulnerabilities in both the CBSE and OnMark platforms.
