IDFC First Bank's Managing Director and CEO, V Vaidyanathan, confirmed that the bank will not raise deposit rates in the near future after significant reductions last quarter. He highlighted that stress in the microfinance portfolio is now under control, with collections normalizing to over 99.5%. The bank's representative core profit for the quarter reached ₹746 crore (approximately $90 million USD), reflecting a 145% increase compared to the same period last year, despite the impact of a fraud incident at its Chandigarh branch. Vaidyanathan indicated that the bank expects its net interest margin (NIM) to stabilize around 5.75% for FY27. Key growth drivers for the bank include mortgage, vehicle, and consumer loans, which contributed 87% of the incremental growth last year. Additionally, IDFC First Bank aims to enhance its rural banking business to meet priority sector loan requirements, as it currently falls short in this area.
