In a press conference, Lucknow University Vice Chancellor Prof. J P Saini confirmed that the recent increase in self-financed semester fees will not be rolled back, despite protests from students. He noted that approximately 22.5% of students from Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories will receive a 100% refund of their fees, while 27% of Economically Weaker Section (EWS) students are eligible for scholarships up to ₹55,000 (approximately $660 USD). The fee for a Bachelor of Arts (BA) self-financed course is set at ₹16,330 (approximately $200 USD) per subject, which can be reimbursed. Prof. Saini also highlighted plans to enhance university facilities, including renovations and the development of a learning management system with video lectures from expert faculty. Furthermore, the university will add 451 seats to its existing 2,165 in regular courses and has introduced new undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Admissions for LLB and MBA courses will now be conducted through the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) and the Common Admission Test (CAT) respectively. All examinations will be monitored under camera surveillance to ensure academic integrity.
