The Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK), led by Premalatha Vijayakant, has voiced strong opposition to the appointment of astrologer Radhan Pandit Vettrivel as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijaykanth, who is facing a crucial floor test. Premalatha condemned the decision, questioning the implications it has for the youth and emphasizing the need for transparent governance. She recalled the history of horse-trading in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, urging the Chief Minister to uphold his promise of transparency. In contrast, BJP leader Vinoj Selvam defended the appointment, stating that it is the Chief Minister's personal choice and likening it to an actor holding a political position. As the Tamil Nadu Assembly engages in a Vote of Confidence, various parties, including Congress, CPI(M), and VCK, have extended support to the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government, while the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) has chosen to abstain from the vote.
