The state government of Uttar Pradesh has enacted a ban on the sale, purchase, and registration of land within the designated areas of the Lucknow Development Authority’s (LDA) upcoming IT City and Wellness City projects on Sultanpur Road. This notification, effective immediately, aims to prevent speculative land transactions and ensure that the advantages of the land pooling scheme are exclusively available to current landowners. Under the new directive, any transfer or registration of land within these project limits will be deemed invalid. The IT City project is planned over approximately 1,054 hectares, while the Wellness City will cover nearly 1,198 acres along Kisan Path. Both developments utilize a land pooling model, allowing landowners to surrender their land in exchange for developed plots, typically offering 25% of the contributed area as developed land. LDA officials confirmed that the land pooling process will proceed, but only those landowners whose names are already in revenue records will be eligible for participation in the scheme. Any land purchases made after the notification will not qualify for benefits under this program.
