Following the BJP's significant victory in the West Bengal elections, where it secured 207 out of 294 seats, all retired bureaucrats appointed by outgoing Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee have been barred from attending their offices. The directive was communicated by West Bengal Chief Secretary Dushyant Nariala to all departmental secretaries, with instructions to ensure that important files remain secure within departmental premises. This order is set to remain in effect until the new government is officially formed. Many of the retired officials, who were serving as advisors, have already submitted their resignations and vacated government accommodations. The BJP, which has ended the Trinamool Congress's 15-year rule in the state, is preparing for the oath-taking ceremony of its new government, scheduled for May 9.
