Chandranath Rath, a close aide to Suvendu Adhikari (BJP leader), was shot dead late Wednesday evening in North 24 Parganas district, West Bengal. He was attacked by unidentified assailants on motorcycles and succumbed to his injuries shortly after being taken to a hospital in Madhyamgram. Adhikari arrived at the hospital under heavy security, where hospital officials confirmed that Rath was brought dead despite attempts to revive him with CPR. Preliminary investigations indicate that the attack was likely premeditated, involving at least eight attackers. Police are also looking into a car that may have played a role in the incident, as it was seen intercepting Rath's vehicle moments before the shooting.
