Suvendu Adhikari, a prominent leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in India, labeled the murder of his personal aide, Chandranath Rath, as a 'cold-blooded murder' following a shooting in Madhyamgram, North 24 Parganas district, West Bengal. Rath was targeted by motorcycle-borne assailants who executed a pre-planned attack, shooting him while he was in a vehicle. Adhikari noted that the attack was executed with precision, as the assailants aimed specifically at Rath, resulting in fatal injuries to his vital organs. The incident occurred late Wednesday night, just two days after the West Bengal assembly election results were announced. Adhikari expressed his condolences and condemned the attack, stating that the Director General of Police, Siddhnath Gupta, assured him of a thorough investigation. He also called for calm among his party's supporters, highlighting ongoing violence against BJP workers in the state following the elections. Adhikari confirmed that he had spoken with Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the incident.
