In a significant political event in Maharashtra, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MP Supriya Sule will jointly campaign for Sunetra Pawar, who is contesting the Baramati Assembly bypoll unopposed following the death of her husband, Ajit Pawar, in a plane crash. Sule expressed her commitment to support her sister-in-law, emphasizing their familial bond despite being from different political parties. The Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition has also extended support to Sunetra as a tribute to Ajit Pawar. The Congress party withdrew its candidate at the last moment, allowing Sunetra to run unopposed against 23 independent candidates, who are not expected to pose a significant challenge. The Pawar family has a longstanding electoral stronghold in Baramati, with Ajit Pawar having won the seat seven times consecutively. The bypoll is set for April 23, with results to be announced on May 4.
