The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) has successfully averted a strike as both administrators and teachers ratified new labor contracts. Approximately 96% of the 3,000 administrators represented by the Associated Administrators of Los Angeles/Teamsters Local 2010 voted in favor of their contract, which includes a 12.15% wage increase over two years and significant workload protections. These protections establish a defined 8-hour workday and a reasonable 40-hour workweek, along with flex time provisions. The wage increases will be implemented retroactively, with 2% backdated to July 1, 2025, and further increases scheduled for January 1, 2027. Additionally, principals at priority schools will receive an annual stipend of $5,000. Maria Nichols, president of AALA/Teamsters Local 2010, emphasized that the contract reflects the unity and collective power of the members. Meanwhile, members of United Teachers Los Angeles have also ratified their agreement, while the results for Service Employees International Union Local 99, representing about 30,000 support staff, are still pending after a tentative agreement was reached earlier this month.
