Grace, who lied about her age to join the Auxiliary Territorial Service, found camaraderie and independence while operating height-finders on anti-aircraft guns. Hannah, who became a 'lumberjill,' was tasked with chopping trees to support military infrastructure. Each woman recalls the pride they felt in contributing to the war effort, despite the hardships.
