During a public gathering in Deoband, Saharanpur district, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced a significant shift in governance from the politics of appeasement and 'fatwas' to a model focused on development and public welfare. He inaugurated and laid the foundation for 325 development projects worth ₹2,131 crore (approximately $257 million USD), highlighting the use of government funds for infrastructure such as roads, universities, and tourism sites rather than divisive politics. Adityanath pointed out the improved law-and-order situation in Saharanpur since the formation of the double-engine government in 2017, which had previously faced communal tensions. He warned that anyone challenging law and order would face strict consequences and noted that insulting 'Vande Mataram' would now be considered a cognizable offense. The Chief Minister also linked the recent electoral victories of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal to a public demand for development and good governance, asserting that voters reward governments that fulfill their promises. The projects launched included 184 completed works worth ₹500 crore and 141 new projects worth ₹1,631 crore, aimed at enhancing regional infrastructure and reducing travel times for residents.
