Anik Dutta, a celebrated Bengali filmmaker, passed away at 66 after a tragic fall from the terrace of his wife's home in South Kolkata. He was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Dutta was known for his leftist views and often criticized the Mamata Banerjee government, particularly when his film 'Bhobishyoter Bhoot' faced a ban, which was later overturned by the Supreme Court, emphasizing the importance of free speech. His final film, 'Joto Kando Kolkatatei,' is expected to be released in 2025, featuring prominent actors like Abir Chatterjee and Quazi Nawshaba Ahmed.
