On Saturday, the Delhi Police Special Cell arrested nine individuals allegedly connected to a terror plot linked to the Pakistan-based Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and the Mumbai underworld, specifically underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. Investigators have identified nearly 600 individuals across India who were reportedly in contact with Shahzad Bhatti, a Pakistani gangster, through social media. Key arrests included Sajid Mehboob Sheikh, alias Arbaz Khan, and Tauqeer Rizwan Sheikh, both of whom were apprehended in Mumbai and brought to Delhi for further questioning. Officials revealed that these individuals were instructed to travel to Delhi for assignments against potential targets such as nuclear facilities and airports. The operation also resulted in the recovery of a significant cache of weapons. Following intelligence inputs about possible terror threats, Delhi has heightened security measures, with police units advised to coordinate closely with intelligence agencies to prevent attacks involving improvised explosive devices and other tactics.
