The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has taken decisive action to improve air quality in the National Capital Region (NCR) by ordering the closure of nine factories following a series of inspections. From March 27 to April 10, the CAQM's enforcement task force conducted 162 inspections, uncovering 64 violations across construction and demolition (C&D) sites, industrial units, and diesel generator (DG) sets. Notably, the task force reported 14 violations at C&D sites, eight in the industrial sector, and 42 linked to DG sets. In response, authorities have sealed 18 DG sets, issued 11 show cause notices, and imposed environmental compensation in six cases. The CAQM emphasized the need for focused enforcement in critical areas such as industrial emissions and road dust management, having initiated 46 enforcement actions since their last meeting on April 2. To date, over 26,800 inspections have been conducted across the NCR, highlighting ongoing efforts to combat air pollution.
