The Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) is set to install five new continuous ambient air quality monitoring stations (CAAQMS) in Gurugram by the end of the year. This initiative is part of a larger plan to establish 23 CAAQMS across Haryana, aimed at improving air quality monitoring in densely populated areas. Proposed locations in Gurugram include Behrampur, Jahajgarh, Tau Devilal Park, Leisure Valley Park, and areas near a water treatment plant in Chandu village. Each monitoring station will cover a 25 sq-km grid, ensuring comprehensive air quality assessment. Currently, Gurugram has only three operational CAAQMS, highlighting the need for enhanced monitoring. The project, funded by the Haryana Clean Air Project and the World Bank, will help track and reduce air pollution levels from industrial and vehicular sources by 2030. Additionally, HSPCB plans to install low-cost monitors in industrial areas to monitor pollution spikes, addressing the growing air quality concerns in the region.
