Munish Moudgil, Special Commissioner of the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA), reported that the integration of the e-khata system with the Kaveri property registration portal has drastically improved property administration in Bengaluru. Prior to the e-khata implementation on October 1, 2024, around 85% of transactions involved unauthorized layouts or illegal sites, with over 75,000 such transactions recorded in 2024-25 alone. Since the integration, these problematic transactions have been reduced to almost zero. The e-khata system is designed to enhance transparency, accountability, and legality in property transactions, supported by the Greater Bengaluru Governance Act, 2024, and other relevant laws. To further assist citizens, the GBA is conducting 50 open houses every Saturday. The transition to a digitized property record system has minimized corruption and improved access to information, addressing issues that previously allowed manipulation and opacity in property dealings. Despite facing legal challenges, the e-khata framework has been upheld by the High Court, demonstrating its robustness under judicial scrutiny.
