The Greater Bengaluru Authority has announced an e-Khata open house event scheduled for May 23, 2026, from 10 AM to 5 PM across various locations in Bengaluru, including Whitefield, Jayanagar, and Koramangala. This initiative, part of the Bhoo Guarantee-6th Guarantee scheme, aims to address citizen grievances related to Khata registration and provide on-the-spot assistance. During the open house, residents can resolve issues, receive guidance on Khata services, and file grievances. Mrinal Trivedi, an expert from Square Yards, emphasized the importance of a Khata for property recognition by municipal authorities, which is crucial for taxation. He noted that while a Khata is not a title document, it is significant for homebuyers, as many banks prefer it when processing home loans. However, the absence of a Khata does not invalidate property ownership, as legal ownership is primarily established through registered sale deeds. The event aims to facilitate smoother property transactions and enhance public understanding of the Khata process.
