The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) inaugurated a new Aadhaar Seva Kendra (ASK) in Viruthampattu village, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on Wednesday. This centre is the fifth of its kind in the state, following similar facilities in Chennai, Madurai, Tirunelveli, and Krishnagiri. The ASK will provide a range of services, including Aadhaar enrolment, demographic and biometric updates, error correction, and grievance redressal, all under one roof. Designed to enhance resident convenience, the centre features wheelchair accessibility and accessible restrooms. Each Kendra is managed by an ASK Manager who handles grievances and ensures timely resolutions. Residents can also book appointments for services online through the UIDAI appointment portal. Notably, mandatory biometric updates for children aged 5–17 years are being offered free of charge until September 2026, available at both school camps and Aadhaar Seva Kendras.
