He noted that Gambhir's aggressive approach has led to confrontations, including a clash with Virat Kohli during the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL). While acknowledging Gambhir's coaching success, including winning several ICC trophies since July 2024, Wassan pointed out that there are still blemishes on his coaching record, such as home series defeats against New Zealand and South Africa. He expressed concern that not all players are comfortable under Gambhir's leadership, indicating that strong personalities can lead to tension and dissatisfaction within the team.
